The YTM Business Connect “WHY” Dinner events were established in 2015 to provide an opportunity for business owners and professionals to step out of their comfort zone, raise their profile, present to an audience and prompt thought on a specific topic. This year the theme is : “WHY : Influence and change matters”
Influence and change can be both unintentional and carefully considered.
By looking back at history, recalling more recent stories we have read about or seen, or thinking about people we know, we can all find many examples of influential people. Some seek to have a strong positive influence by using what they’ve learnt - often the hard way - to uplift others. They are not afraid to step up, stand out, share their knowledge and express potent viewpoints and opinions.
“Positive influencers use their power well and wisely. They understand the widespread influence they have, the power they have to build up and elevate, or tear down. Those who impact the world for the better are careful and judicious with their words, actions and behaviours. They operate with heart …’-
‘When they see something that agitates and disturbs them, they strive to know more, get to the root of the issue, research and understand the contributing factors, and arrive at new solutions. They observe gaps and mistakes in common thinking and behaviour and trust themselves in their belief that it’s time to push the boundaries of what’s accepted. They want to affect because they believe change will bring a better way to live.’. - Kathy Caprino

How can you influence others for good?
Jane Libbis, Umbrella Family Law - Divorce rates are at an all-time high and now more than ever people’s relationships are coming under the microscope as lockdowns force families to spend significant time together. With so many people separating, we owe it to society to offer people undergoing this significant life transformation the ability to do so with dignity, respect and support.
Warren Howard, Howardco Business and HR Solutions, - “Change is a human experience”. Warren will share the four stages of change that all leaders must observe and follow in order to influence positive, lasting change in their business or organisation. He says “Ignore them at your peril!”
Hannah Fromont, Just Peoples.org - We live in a world where 1% of the population hold 50% of the wealth. And a world where 1 billion people live in poverty. By showing those with the means the power they hold to significantly improve the lives of others, and influencing them to take action, together, we can change this world. Just Peoples connects Australians directly to changemakers who are tackling poverty in their local communities around the globe for a personal, transparent and rewarding giving experience that creates sustainable change, village by village.
