Membership Partner ‑ Engagement
Bec Carroll-Bell is a bubbly and enthusiastic member of the YTM community who currently is working for the Australian Institute of Company Directors as a new member acquisition specialist (technically a Member Partner – Engagement).
Bec’s path to the AICD has been a winding one, with stops as a litigation lawyer, workplace mediator and governance officer and a detour into the world of designer ceramics along the way.
“The AICD’s purpose is to strengthen society through world-class governance. We do this by providing education and by advocating on director issues on behalf of our members. My role is to chat with prospective members and help them find the right place for them to start their governance journey. Which is great because chatting with people is one of my favourite things to do.
I have known Kerryn and Leigh since about 2014 when I was building my private mediation practice (the conflict resolution type not the mindfulness type, although we do use some of the same techniques). I knew from the first time I attended a YTM event that this was something special and have been involved on and off ever since. We have stayed in touch and when my manager encouraged me to lean into my role as ambassador for the AICD, I knew exactly where to go – YTM!”
Bec is happy to answer your questions on the principles of good governance, how to find a role on a board of directors, and the challenges facing boards in the ever-changing global environment.
Bec and her husband live in an inner city apartment with their house rabbit, and Bec is also happy to answer any domestic rabbit related questions.
