Online Strategies for Your Brand

YTM online

“You’re on Mute”

At our online business networking events, we cannot “Zoom-Connect” without these words being spoken can we!

The words got me thinking about the broader impact on our visibility during this period of isolation and lock down.

Normally we combine digital and face to face ways to connect and convey our message.

Face to face business networking opportunities allow us to see each other’s personality and to clarify what we mean when communicating who we are, our brand and proposition.

It is much easier to detect authenticity and fit to decide on the prospect of a collaboration, referral  or doing business with each other.

Doing so via an online platform is much harder, is it not?

Video meetings, while a much appreciated alternative at this time, can be a little stilted and can also be impacted by the technology and quality of internet connection. Some people are reticent to have their say and be heard in an online conversation.

Some treat the on-line space more casually while in their home than they would have in a face to face exchange.

So What?

By not stepping up to the online space and thinking through how you would like to be seen and remembered as an active participant in the discussion, means that you may as well be “on mute”.

How to present your brand online

Prepare-

online business networkng at YTM
  • Take the opportunity to present yourself and your brand (how you dress, your background, lighting) professionally and remembered in that way by the audience.

  • There will be a theme or subject for the online meeting or event so prepare in advance and then contribute your thoughts and be interested in what others have to say.

Engage-

  • Respectfully comment in the chat box.

  • Invest in the opportunity, share and enjoy and learn from the experience .

“You and your brand will NOT be on Mute” when you recognise the importance of the connection and conversation. Make sure you take every opportunity to contribute to your community or workplace, and support your network.
